September 4, 1983 - Tricks / Fine Line Party in Burnips
Fine Line is the opening band at this huge Tricks party. On Sunday of Labor Day weekend, Lenny Lenhart hosts a mega-party on 142nd Ave., in a Burnips cornfield across the street from the Farm Equipment Company. All week long, on WLAV radio, the morning jocks have been promoting this party. One of the phony characters on the LAV morning show is called "Bob Science", and he usually does the weather. All week long, right before the weather, the jocks introduce Bob with, "hey Bob, we hear there's going to be a big party out at your place in Burnips this Labor Day weekend". This creates enough interest to make this party one of the biggest Tricks Party ever. It definitely holds the record for the "most beer ever to be consumed at a Tricks Party". 83 kegs of beer are emptied at this party. That's Eighty Three Kegs - not pony kegs - 83 half barrel kegs.
Fine Line's finest hour - Greg, Krystal, Tim, Greg, John
You can't see it in this pic, but the band is facing a big hay field
and there are cars parked in the field, as far as the eye can see,
and people all sitting around on their cars and drinking dozens of kegs of beer.
No pix of Tricks at this huge bash.
